Skincare Guide: Part 1: Skin Types

Hello my lovely readers! I haven't posted on a blog before, so please be nice ><. And that is purely because I've been trying to get together enough products to fill out my blog a little. But I've decided that instead of wasting time on the layout, I could write a few guides (without my own pictures I'm afraid). SO, first of all, I would like to discuss skin types :).

I believe that the first step to great skincare, is to identify your skin type. And here are the most common:

    * Normal Skin
    * Combination/Oily Skin
    * Sensitive Skin
    * Dry Skin

Now, I'm noticing that dehydrated is somewhat a skin type also, but I may discuss that at a later date. I'd now like to talk about how you can determine which skin type you have, with two to three simple statements ^^.

If you:

    * feel that your skin is tight all over your face after you wash it
    * need to moisturize your skin a lot
    * you seem to get recurring dry patches on your face, throughout the day

I would say you belong to the 'dry' skin type.

If you:

    * become quite oily in the t-zone (forehead and nose) and chin but nowhere else
    * you find some products make you breakout in your t-zone but not cheeks
    * you find that some products affect/work only in certain areas

You're most likely to be in the 'combination' skin type. I'll know most about this type, as I have combination skin.

If you:

    * find your skin becomes greasy very easily
    * breakout a lot, due to sebum and the oils of your skin
    * don't benefit from a normal moisturiser

Then I would suggest that you had 'oily' skin. Beware, because some people may believe they have oily skin, and they could indeed have combination skin.

If you:

    * have reactions to a lot of products
    * find that using soaps and such can be harsh on your skin
    * feel that products with fragrance irritate your skin

You're likely to have 'sensitive' skin. I'd say this was the easiest skin type to spot, but that doesn't mean everyone does.

That's all for now, I'll hopefully be posting soon on types of cleansers, exfoliators, spot treament, brands for each skin type, face masks and any other skincare products I can think of. Have a great day guys :D!
